PARIS男性人体艺术, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Carlos Edriel Yulo added a men's vault title on Sunday to his gold medal in floor exercise at the Paris Olympic Games in a span of 24 hours.
The 2022 world champion had already made history Saturday by taking home the Philippines' first medal in gymnastics. Now he refreshed the historic record for his country with two gold medals in the sport.
Yulo edged Artur Davtyan, the Tokyo bronze medalist with a 6.0 difficulty vault to score a leading 15.116 points. Davtyan used a near flawless execution to post 14.966 and gave Armenia its first gymnastic medal in Paris.
Harry Hepworth took the bronze with 14.949 for Britain's second medal in the event.
Yulo held his head in charming disbelief when the results came out. He later proudly showed to cameras the national emblem on his gym suit.男性人体艺术
He recovered in time for the vault final with naps on the bus, before the podium training after a sleepless night following the excitement of the floor exercise win.
"I'm grateful for the people who truly believed in me through the ups and downs. This one is the sweetest, I think," Yulo said, who fell from the apparatus at the Games in 2021.
Yulo wasn't the only one that was making history.
Kaylia Nemour edged China's Qin Qiyuan to claim the women's uneven bars title and delivered Algeria's first gymnastic medal in the Olympics.
"I'm delighted to have won this medal for Algeria," said Nemour. "This is also the first medal for Africa. I'm honored. "
The world silver medalist flipped the script to finish ahead of the world champion Qiu with a score of 15.700. Qiu's posted 15.500 points for a lapse in execution. China now has collected six medals in total including one gold.
Tokyo bronze medalist Sunisa Lee finished third with 14.800 for her third medal in Paris. ■男性人体艺术
